Abstract

This article deals with the kern question, “what can the philosophy and theology contribute to develop the culture, as the Indonesian law number 15 on the year of 2017 challenges?” Answering this question, I look for the conception of culture, the core elaboration of philosophy and theology, and their methods of research. The meeting point of the trio is the human experience; both philosophy and theology concern of the inner and deeper side of human experience, i.e. beliefs, values, and fundamental assumptions of life.

Paul Richard Renwarin, Sekolah Tinggi Filsafat Seminari Pineleng

Lahir di Tomohon pada 7 Januari 1955. Setelah menamatkan studi doctorandus dalam bidang ilmu Filsafat dan Teologi pada Sekolah Tinggi Filsafat Seminari Pineleng pada tahun 1981, ia mengambil program studi Antropologi Budaya pada Rijksuniversiteit di Leiden, Belanda dan mendapat gelar doctorandus untuk bidang studi ini pada tahun 1987. Tesisnya yang berjudul Life in Saryamerene, yang mengulas kebudayaan Tanimbar, diterbitkan oleh Institut voor Culturule Antropologie (ICA) pada tahun 1989. Bekerja sebagai dosen pada Sekolah Tinggi Filsafat Seminari Pineleng, Program Pascasarjana Fakultas Teologi Universitas Kristen Tomohon dan Program Studi Linguistik jenjang S3 Universitas Sam Ratulangi. Ia menyelesaikan studi doktorat (S-3) di bidang studi Antropologi Budaya di Rijksuniversiteit Leiden, Belanda, dengan disertasi berjudul Matuari and Tona’as Minaesa, the Cultural Dynamics of the Tombulu in Minahasa.
